Day 7 – Onward and Upward

The last few days Kez has been brilliant.  Continual improvement in her stats and bloods, oxygen now not required as her lungs have fully recovered.  Playing happily again, in good spirits and good health, being the cheeky monkey that she is!  She had fun hanging out with granddad and grandpa while consuming olives – yum!

Throughout the week we have been giving her daily feeds; milk with vitamins and probiotics in the morning and vegetable juice in the afternoon.  In addition to the feeds we have been able to give her regular shots of wheat grass, cod liver oil, flax seed oil, coconut oil, and since Saturday, daily IVC doses of 25g.  Over the course of the week we have seen incredible improvement including no bacterial cultures grown from her blood samples!  So it was looking like we might go home tomorrow. Yay!

…The bad news is the results from Tuesday’s heart scan show some sort of growth/infection on one of her heart values.   It is 1.5 x 4mm – they are unsure what it is.  The issue is that it could compromise her IV line (that is critical to complete her IVC protocol over the next two years) or could dislodge and cause other problems, or could grow and become a problem.  In addition to the heart valve infection her heart rate has been lower than the previous few days, this is either because she is over her infection and her rate has gone back to normal, or that somethings up.  A scan is scheduled for Friday and it would be great if there was no sign, that it had been dealt to by her existing treatment.  There is also a ‘big’ doctor meeting tomorrow morning – please pray for wisdom for the doctors to make the correct decisions about Kezia’s care plan.  A bowel movement would be great too!

Please continue to pray for her complete recovery, that there are no further complications and that she can go home on Friday!
